Smoking Problem

I have recently bought a 1985 AMG 500 sec . I have a very major problem with it smoking. When I start it in the mornings it will throw out a small amount of whitish grey smoke this tends to tell mee that it probably need a valve job. But that is not the major problem. After I let the car warm up for a few minutes and go test drive it I will go about a mile and come to a stop. upon acceleration from the stop it will throw out this horrible cloud of whitish yellow smoke that smells real bad I cant really tell if it smells like fuel or oil I think more like fuel. After it does this it won't do it anymore until the next day. I have been monitoring the oil level and I don't see that it uses any oil . Also I have run a compression check , It has 185lbs on all cylinders and to me that seems fine as well . this leads me back to the fuel theory. What do you think? Also when the car is in park at an idle it tends to surge about 300 rpms. Can you help with any kind of diaganosis.
Thanks for your time

Could be valve seals with the oil draining into the cylinders when parked. Upon start up it burns off and if its only a little oil leaking when the engine warms up you won't notice it. Had a similar problem years ago with a 450SL.

Blueish gray as oppossed to white/gray smoke would generally constitute oil burning.
