CL600 issues.

CL600 issues.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by a 2003 CL600 having a few problems, but I was hoping some members could shed some light on these issues. The first of which is a display error on the display behind the steering wheel and wont allow me to navigate through the menus but only when the car is in drive. When the car is in park, there is no display error and I can run through all the menus and use the steering controls. Secondly, when the car is floored, the engine stops. The engine runs smoothly under all other circumstances, but once the pedal goes past that final "notch" the engine stops putting power to the wheels. This again is only the case in drive, as while the car is in neutral the engine runs just fine at WOT. Lastly the car is not recognizing the chip-set in my key fob. Will the key need to be reprogrammed, or could one computer malfunction be responsible for all these issues? Thank you in advance.

The engine problem could be your accelerator pedal module (this car is drive-by-wire) beginning to fail. It's a common problem after about five years and can result in many different symptoms. By the way, it's not a great idea to run your engine WOT with no load.
Key problems are probably not related to either other problem.

Thank you very much Whoover for your response. The display issue is in fact the display itself, not the display showing an error in another part of the car. The accelerator module idea sounds like a good one and I will be getting it checked out as soon as possible. Any suggestions as to how to deal with the key fob and lack of keyless go?

Now I'm confused, on your first post you did not mention keyless go. If it is a normal key, it could be the transponder coil soldering issue. If it is KG, I assume you have put in new batteries. The rest is likely MB workshop stuff, like whoover says.

Yeah I'm sorry, it is in fact a keyless go. I am not sure as to whether the batteries were changed or not as I just recieved the car a couple days ago, it's a question I'll be sure to ask the dealer. And as far as that extended display warranty goes, is that transferable?

The extended warranty on the cluster transfers with the car, for ten years from original date of sale, any mileage. You haven't included much information with your profile, so note this extended warranty is US only.
