89 300SEL
Serpentine belt adjustment rod broken????
I'm new to the MB world, and brand new to this foum..
I bought a 89 300SEL, that for the most part seems pretty solid..I went to install a new belt, and noticed that the adjustment rod for the tensioner is broken..
What will it take to repair this???

Serpentine belts
as far as I know, there is no serpentine belt on that car. Mercedes uses 2-3 belts all run off a central flywheel (attached to the crankshaft) instead of a serpentine. As to the tensioner, your best bet is to take it to a mechanic (so that you're sure it's done right). It should cost in the range of $100 (and that's being generous, it might cost less than that).

that does tend to happen with older parts with stress on them constantly (which the tensioner does). I have to say, a MB with a serpentine is news to me (granted most of my experience is with the old diesels and a C220), but it's possible.
