Issues with Tall tires, ie 245/45/18 e-classs?
Not that I'm planning on doing this, but I just wondered how installing taller than stock tires affects the suspension and or braking/esp system.
would just liked to know the technical reason why you should not go taller.

If your overall diameter is bigger than stock, it will throw off your speedo.
I wouldn't go with taller height..if you're going bigger on the wheels, then the tire profile has to go lower.

stock is 215/55/16, issue is in the total dia. of 25.5". If I go into a size where the diameter goes into the 26-27" i'd like to know the mechanical implications besides speedometer adjustments. I know the ABS would be affected but how? Would ESP be affected and how would that affect be physically interpreted. In a panic situation what would happen to the abs, esp, with larger dia. tires. ex. 26.5"(255/45/18)? Would the affects be significant?

235/40R18 are a much better match. If you keep all 4 tires the same size it shouldn't cause problems with the EPS or ABS, the larger tires you want will throw off you speedo at 75MPH it will read 70MPH
