Quick Help NEEDED!! What is this wire?
1999 W210 E55.
Was just about to start cleaning the bay area and noticed this? looks like rats have been at it!! The wire is almost cut clean through, what is it?
It's the smaller greeny/blue wire that is slanted in a 4 o'clock position, there is two wires and one is chewed.

Are you sure the copper strands have been damaged. Critters usually stop at the insulation. If it's just the insulation you could removed the wire/pin from the connector and insert a strip of heat shrink tubing. Whatever you do just make sure the repair is air/moisture tight. The repair type is not that critical.

I would not think so. If the two wires are not exposed and touching each other there would not likely be any indication they have been damaged. And if they were it would likely just be a cylinder misfire. If this were my vehicle and there is at least 50% of the copper strands still intact, I would just strip back the insualtion a 1/4 inch or so on each side and solder the damaged area. Follow up with the heat shrink tubing. Or you could remove about 1/2 inch of the damaged area and splice in 1/2 inch of new wire. Again insulate with shrink tubing. Not a high current circuit so either repair will not effect the injectors function.
Crank position sensors are common on the engines for random stalls/crank no starts.
