Transmission seems sluggish

This seemed to develop recently in colder weather...

I started noticing an odd feeling while at cruising speed on the highway. It felt as if the trans lost connection to the engine for a moment, then bumped back in. It was very subtle, but I noticed it at least once per day during a steady drive.
Then, I notice that the upshifting during normal acceleration is not as seemless as it was. There is a slip and a grab on every gear shift. Again, it is not harsh or noisy..just very subtle. It is less noticeable when the engine is fully warmed up (it is 30's around here on average), but still detectable.

I have hit 50k miles, but I'd hardly expect a tranny failure anywhere near this mileage level.

Does anyone know what I'm in for? Can it be something simple, like a fluid change?

the trans on your e class is known to fail on early stage but if you pass 100k miles your good to go,have your dealer check it asap.
