Difficulty starting...but will...??
I've a '03 C230. When starting, cold or warm, you insert key and have to wait for it to be "recognized" you then hear a "buzz" or a "click" (this sound is hard to describe, but it is normal) and the key will then turn. BUT it will not start when turned to start, won't even turn over - nothing other than the dashboard lighting up. Turn it off and retry 2-3 times and it will eventually start and run properly.
On the same note, and I feel related, I have been driving and the electrical goes completely out, a split second of no radio no dash no a/c nothing, and then it all comes back on. This never effects the mechanics or driveablility..??
Can anyone help?

BMW E30. I've turned to the dark side.
this could be anything from a bad key to EIS or front sam. have it properly diagnosed at a dealer. FWIW it is less likely a key and more likely an EIS based on your descriptions.
