2000 C230 Kompressor Question?

I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor, and I am curious to know if the engine block is cast iron or Aluminum? Thanks!

If you don't KNOW the answer, please don't post. Cast iron is the correct answer for a 2000 111 engine kompressor engine.

The reason why I am asking is b/c the drain plug bolt for the block is totally stripped. I have been able to turn it twice, but now it wont move anymore. I want to try a few other things before I go and tap it out. Thanks!!

turn it twice? are you trying to install or remove the plug?im thinking you have allready removed it and it got cross threaded on the install?

you have options

expandable universal plugs which are rubber and use a compression method to to secure them.buy a new block plug and carefully try to install it straight.or you could attempt to clean up the threads on the old plug with a small file but you cant use a die because the plug is tapered and would be useless after cleaning/straightening the threads.if the block is stripped ,try to run the "correct" size tap in and out to see if you can get any remaining threads to "stand" enough to retain a new plug.

I have been trying to remove the plug. And I decided to drill it using a 1/2 bit and it WORKED. The only thing is that I believe the plug itself is aluminum and it some how molded little piece around the threads in the block: (if that makes sense). But, I have a new plug to replace the old one with, and I am going to use the same size tap to get ride of the what is still there threaded. Thanks for everyone's help!!
