1991 W126 420SE LPG
Question W126 420SE Idle Speed and Kickdown

Hi,

I'm a new member, with a long list of new problems! Some of which I hope you can advise me on

I've recently bought a 2 owner from new 1991 UK Spec 420SE Auto. Its very clean and tidy, LPG converted (and has been for the last 12 years) with a very long MoT and Tax, all for a shade over £800.

It does have some issues though:

Idles at 1300rpm, steady though, but drops down to 600rpm when in Drive/Reverse. The result however, it it will do 30mph without touching the accelerator!

Almost no kickdown after say, 60mph. It just won't drop down. Drops down at lower speeds, however, ie around the city.

Temp guage isn't working (worrys me for long journeys)

Knock from the O/S front suspension over bad road surfaces.

Knackered passenger electric seat switch (replacement ordered)

Knackered electric arial (as above)

Rotten bumper chrome (as above)

Any ideas or tips on the above? I've had a 300SE in the past, but am a little lost when it comes to the V8 model. Any help would be much, much appriciated.
