Yet another AM reception thread, I have specifics
Ok, Like just about everyone else who owns an MB my AM radio reception sucks. I have searched all the threads here and on other sites. It seems the reported problems range from amplifiers to tinted windows. Well I don't have tinted windows and my amplifier is not where everyone says it should be. Back windows behind the pilar. I do have the Nav system, so I assume it's up under the head linar. Could be wrong I don't know.
What I notice today as I was sitting in my car listening to the radio was that when the key was off It was perfectly clear not static. I turned the key on to position 2 to roll down the window. As soon as I turned the key on I heard slight static and a ringing sound. After turning the key off I noticed after some tim I heard a click sound, like a relay shutting off and the static and the ringing went away. I tried this 2 more times with the same effect.
Could it be a grounding issue, but where? I have looked under the hood and in the trunk and found countless grounding points. Could it be a relay?
I really want to put some thought into this so any extra info or experiences anyone can offer would be most appreciated.

I dont know if this could be a cause, but i know there is some sort of connection between the fuel pump and the stereo. I had a 91 towncar that had a bad fuel pump and i heard a wine on the stereo. I didnt know until i read posts on the net about this. The pump eventually went and was fixed but i don't remeber whether or not the sound went away; i bought another car a bit after getting it fixed.
