Dealer can't install my OEM bi-xenons in my '05 w203?
So i got a used set of oem bi-xenons a few weeks ago...finally took them into the local dealership in MD to have them installed. They guy then called me a few hours later saying that they "cannot install them because it requires modification wheich they are not aloud to do."
I was never aware of any modification, only plug and play like everyone everyone has always talked about. THe guy said that they needed some wiring work done to make them work blah blah and that since they don't come from the factory with bi-xenon thats why or some BS...
Can someone help explain this or just reassure me that they are simply idiots and that I am better off doing it myself and simply taking my car in to have them turn the xenonpresent thing on!
PS i wanted to knock him out for being stupid but i refrained!

If I was in their position I would not do it either. You do not have the self leveling and perhaps other components. You supplied the parts, used ones at that, and then they are concerned that you will hold them responsible for any problems or issues that occurr and I am certain that you would. They are not idiots but very smart.

what are you talking about? what problems? and they said nothing about concerns just that it required re-wiring...i frankly could careless about what concerns they have, I just want to know if what he was telling me was a lie or not...does it require re-wiring to make them work or is it just plug and play like I've been told? i know i wont have the self leveling regulator but not much i can do about that...

IMHO...I dont see why they wouldn't work
Probably just a little bit of rewiring, that should be it. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
maybe try calling another MB dealer close to you or finding an authorized MB service center that can install them for you??![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Sounds like your local MB dealer dont know what they're talking about to me!

Thats what sounds kinda weird to me...they're shouldn't be any rewiring.
I think your MB dealer is full of
!
I would try finding some else to install them.

Here is what the procedure looks like on a W211

It is not too bad of a DIY.
Two years ago the dealer quoted $7K for biXenon retrofit. They like to hit homeruns on the upgrade.

ok...cool all i really care about is that i didnt waste my money on this crap...bottom line, i can install myself and they will work fine (just won't auto level and clean) and is the auto leveling reallya ll that dramatic? i mean with all the aftermarket setups out there, it must not be all that big of a deal not to have it...

besides cant i just angle the beam down so that it doesnt shine into oncoming traffic? i mean i seriously doubt that my light beam is going to be going haywire every few minutes requiring the "autolevel" feature to fix them constantly...

It's not just hook them up to the wiring.
Ballasts are required.
Changing car's computer is required.
Good luck--you'll need it.

self leveling is not needed, you can simply just manually adjust them to a proper level. to my under standing, yes they are plug and play. all the dealer has to do is to change the adaptation in the central gateway to have xenon in "present" mode. all this seems like you know already.
from all your posts you sound like you are mad at the dealer. maybe it's how the service adviser handle the situation, but they have the right to refuse service to a retrofitted item. technicians are not trained on retrofits, it would not be the technicians fault if they did not know how to do it. you should just install it yourself

im not mad that they didnt do it...just upset that they lied to me trying to tell me it needed modification to the wiring...i mean i undesrtand now that he probably meant they needed to install the auto leveling ****e but thats rediculous, he should've told me that that is what was required and they didn't do that...but ya idc im gonna do it myself, bring it in, slap them with it and tell them to plug it in...
