flex disc

e430 at 29,000 miles is it normal to change a flex disc? and what the Heck is a flex disc anyway, it makes noise on exceleration both revers and frwd,

I haven't heard of a flex disc going bad at 30,000 miles. In fact, I've never had to replace a flex disc under warranty because they all tend to last until about 90-100K miles. It is possible though, I suppose. A flex disc is a stiff circular rubber disc used at both ends of the driveshaft. It acts like a U-joint, except it absorbs more vibration from the drivetrain than U-joints do.
