Question Gas Gauge is trippen after fill up?!

just this week my fuel gauge is really trippen out! i filled it up and for some reason it didnt go up? A couple of days ago i started it but instead i left it on the 2nd click on the ignition and waited 10 sec and it wen up. So im like ok its fixed now. But for some reason it isnt going down so it says i have a full tank all the time. I wanted to ask you guys for help before i take it to my mechanic and spend a wad of money on something really critical . i dont know if i am clear about this but i hope you get the idea. any help will be greatly appreciated

Also if this helps its a 1998 Clk 320 with 102,000 mi.

You're going to need new fuel level senders, of which your car has two. It's not going to be very cheap.

Yep, just did this to my c class not even a week ago. Brought it to the dealer, had to replace the fuel sensors, and the entire instrument cluster. Totall cost was over $1200 I believe. Good thing for me it was covered under warantee.

Or you can ignore it and base your fuel level on mileage, but you need to fill up the tank and reset the trip Odo with each fillup.

I've seen these guages go bad several times.

yea but if you forget to reset your odometer or whatnot, you'll find yourself in the middle of nowhere with an empty tank of gas.

Yes, but hopefully you won't make that mistake more than once.
