Error Codes

Hello all,
There is nothing specifically wrong with my 08 C300, but I suspect that a ducting door is not functionioning properly. Occassionally I hear a banging that sounds like a plenum door opening and closing. So I scanned the codes and I have 20 pages of codes There are three uniuqe codes and i don't know how to interpet them:

01-4C-20780
01-4C-20701
01-4C-08106

Do you know where I can find a reference to a list of codes, or can you tell me what these are? I assume the "C" is for chassis but I'm used to seeing a P, B, or C followed by 4 digits. Not sure how to read the above.
Regards,
Rick

Hello all,
I see more than 60 views and no responses. Am I missing something here? Can someone point me to where I can find the definitions to these codes?
Regards,
Rick

Hi Paul,
Thanks, I had found those too. Seems like my codes are either more detailed or they are using a different standard. These aren't OBD-II compliant codes in my car are they? Does anyone know?
Much Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Rick

They sure as heck don't look like OBD2 compliant codes -- they could be internal codes that only the MB Star Diags tool can interpret.

You think if I bought a days access here, I might be able to figure it out?

I'm guessing your year/model uses the same basic parts as the W203 in the HVAC system. Your symptom matches the sound a broken stepper motor linkage makes. A louder 'snapping' noise indicates a bad stepper motor. These linkages and motors move the air ducting vents. On my model if you hold down the defrost and recirculate buttons simultaneously it goes into a mode that resynchronizes the stepper motors (10 on mine!). You can hear them opening and closing and feel the air change to different vents. It should stop after about 30 seconds. If it keeps going there is a problem....which you'll probably hear anyway. Don't ignore it as the eventual fix is costly....requiring removal of center and lower dash panels. Aren't you still under warranty?

Oh yes, My service advisor blew it off when I asked him last, I can't notice what is not functioning, but I swear if I stop hard I can hear the vent close (or open). I can't tell which duct it's changing - if i could then I'd have a leg to stand on.
I had to get the blower motor replaced several weeks ago, and I brought it in when it was acting up and they said they couldn't find anything wrong, but I recall he said there was an error code on a duct motor. That's why I want to find out, but It sounds like I should schedule a visit anyway. I have an annual inspection coming up so perhaps that's a good time.
Regards,
Rick

If stored have you tried erasing.

01-4c-20780 - front lights malfunction
01-4c-08106 - faulty intake air sensor
01-4C-20701 - ?
