Do Dealers always reset the FSS when you buy a new car?
I am being told by my Dealers service department that they always reset the FSS when a new car is sold. Even if the car was made 10 months ago and has been sitting around waiting for sale. This would mean that the oil would be 20 months old by the time the FSS indicated a service A was required.

If you get lucky they re set the FSS. Most customers return disappointed after a few months with their NEW car with a message in the cluster stating service is due. You would think they would follow the manufactures recommendation of oil changed every 10K or 12 months which ever comes first!?

Mine was reset, but I went ahead and had the Oil/filter changed and at 1500 miles they did the first check so I feel ok about my car. But they wanted to just reset and have me bring it in when the oil would of been 2 years oil.

It really depends on if the salesman/service advisor catch it before you leave the lot. I typically check upon delivery and if the car has been there over 90 days, then I will have them reset it.
