Rear Rubbing/Vibration

I have a 2006 C280 4Matic. When I am turning at low speeds(out of my driveway) there is a rubbing sound that has been getting progressivly worse. It is most obvious when turning left or reversing left. Anyone have any ideas to a quick fix that is actually correct?

Sounds like the transfer case is going bad, changing the fluid and driving it for 20miles makes it better for a while but will come back. MB has a service campaign going out to certain C VIN #'s to replace the transfer case assembly. Check with your local dealer.

Breakel8 hit the nail right in the head!

I had this precise issue on my car which is exactly the same as yours, an 06 C280 4MATIC. It's the transfer case that needs to be replaced and as mentioned there is an MB campaign out on it too so your dealer must be aware of the problem.

Back when I had it done about 2 years ago I had to fight with them a little bit, they first tried a total flush and fill of the transfer case which solved the issue for a few days but the annoying rubbing, vibrating was back soon after. They finally replaced the transfer case and all is fine!
