what engine oil do u use?

QQQ suggested that I bring in my own engine oil whenever I get my service done.. and I would save quite a chunk from having to buy dealership oil.

What brand engine oil and viscosity should I use?

20W-50 should not be used in Toronto.

There should be a little booklet in with the operator's manual entitled "Factory Approved Service Products". It will tell you everything you need to know.

My booklet has a chart showing what weight oils to use in various temperature ranges.

I just checked the service booklet for my dad's 97 E320.. they used quaker state 10w30!!

er.. seems rather conventional to me.

Lynn: we don thave that chart in teh canadian owner's manual. It juust says "recommended engine oils.. consult dealer"

Do you mind reproducing that for me? Thanks.

Er, yeah it's perfectly fine to be used in LA. My cars are ready for any type of weather and extremely hard driving. My MB dealership uses 5W-50 on all their non-AMG vehicles. They only use the Mobil1 0W-40 on the AMG cars.

I see you giving a lot of oil advice. Learning about and knowing what you speak of would be a plus.

Syntec 5w-50 is a great oil, the only one used at my BOSCH Service Center.
