Lowering car by switching spring pads?
I've read a few threads about people lowering their car switched out original spring pads for some other spring pads that would make the front a little lower to make the front fender gap even to the rear.
My question is that would the car be lower if you just switch out spring pads instead of getting lowering springs... I know it wont be by much but is it possible?

Yes, it's absolutely effective for lowering the car assuming you don't already have the thinnest pads in there and won't be subject to clearance issues.
I don't know about the CLK, but the 210 cars have 5 thicknesses up front, 4 at the rear. They're typically ~1/6" increments.
5 = thickest 1 = thinnest
Enjoy.

Problem is, I don't think you can determine which thickness (number of nibs) 'til they're removed. You could try taking a bright light and see if you can inspect the pad...I don't know if you'll be able to see the number of nibs.
You'll most likely need an alignment if you alter the ride height.

That I don't know.
In theory, they should be able to see what was installed at the factory based on your VIN. Pad thickness is determined by option load and the car's final destination (think bumper ride height).
