Replacing non-dimming rearview mirror with an auto dimming one

I have 2007 GL450 that came with a regular rearview mirror (the one that you have to flip up at night so you don't get blinded by cars behind you). It drives my wife nuts and she asked if it's possible to retrofit the car with an auto dimming mirror. I found a couple of such mirrors on E-Bay but before I spent any money on this project I wanted to find out if it's possible to simply swap the mirrors. Does the auto dimming sensor require any special wiring that may not be a part of my current set up?

Could someone please advise?

Thank you,
Alex
