Exclamation Manual Downshifting Only- Clicking/Slipping Noise!!

Today I hit a raised manhole cover on my street. I was maybe going 10-15mph when it happened. It felt like a solid connection with my car. While driving I used the manual shifter for the first time. All was good until I downshifted from 3rd to 2nd to 1st. Both times the car made what sounded like a clicking or Slipping(gears slipping past eachother) noise. Freaked me out! I came home and put it in the air. I found fresh scrap marks on the front (closest to the front of the car) side of the muffler only. This would be consistent to where the manhole cover came into contact with my vehicle. Please someone give me some insight here. Did I damage the inside of the muffler or maybe cause a exhaust leak somewhere? I drive an 01 CLK55 AMG. Its been dropped significantly as well. Again, it only happens in manual mode while downshifting only.....
