Help with Serpentine belt replacement

I have a 2004 CLK55 AMG and I am in the middle of a serpentine belt replacement. It is driving me nuts. I can not seem to figure out how to loosen the tensioner. The security torx bolt in the center of the tensioner is just a regular bolt. There is a #12 reverse torx nearby that does nothing when loosened. I can pull up on the tensioner but it only gives me 1/4 inch of slack and not enough to get the belt on. It is spring loaded for sure with loads of tension. I searched and could not find anything.

Am I missing something????

Thanks in advance

You don't need to loosen anything. There is either a stud sticking out that you grab on to with a #12 Etorx turn counterclockwise?, or a cutout where you can stick a 40-45? torx. It takes some force but with a good size ratchet it is not too difficult

Thanks Gullwing, I am gonna give it another shot here in a minute. The only other reference I found was to a 12 torx which releases the pulley. I will try looking for a 45 on there.

Got it!!!!

It was a 17mm bolt slightly below and to the left (as you are looking at it), just to the right of the main pulley. I had the belt resting on it and the belt was blocking it from my line of sight. I took a picture w/my cellphone to identify it.

Thanks again Gullwing.
