E300 engine swap?
Long story short: insurance wants to total my wife's 99 E300 after a hailstorm.. which is fine with us since she needs something more appropriate for pet transport. I am toying with the idea of keeping the engine for a diesel swap project (65 Scout) but wondered what needs to be kept.
I'm just concerned about the comprehensive diagnostics in the car. If I remove the engine and ECM and transplant it to another vehicle, will the ECM have trouble with things like no traction control, lack of an automatic transmission, etc?

You could install a 603 IP and forget all the electronic stuff though. You'd need all its linkage too.

See the early W124's and the W126 SDL's. The SD's got the 617 5 cyl engine. http://www.peachparts.com/diy/usmodels/usmodels.htm
Whatcha gonna do with pipe 14 in the 3rd detail if the W210 chassis is trashed???? http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=285&SGN=04

Uh... hadn't thought about it.
The chassis is fine, it just has massive hail damage. Every panel looks like a golf ball, two windows smashed, sunroof smashed, and the intruding hail cracked up the dashboard.
