IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL YOU HAVE TO DO WHEN YOU CHANGE OIL ON A 1983 380 SEC?

Yes, after you have changed the oil and before you start the enigne, disconnect the ignition coil wire and crank the engine until you see the oil pressure gauge start to move up. This takes a while, almost a minute of cranking. But by doing this, you're building up pressure in the timing chain tensioner, lessening the chance of breaking the chain guide rails.

1983 380 SEC oil change

Do you know if this in in a tech bulletine from MB? I had my oil changed by a fast lube company and this is exactally what happened. Now I have the right bank with bent valves and a screwed up engine. I'm gathering information to after the oil change company to repair my engine.
A leason learned...Go to a MB dealer for service.
Thanks a lot and any additional info will certainly be appreciated.

There's no bulletin that I'm aware of for that. It's just knowledge that was passed down from person to person. There's no way a quickie lube store like Jiffy Lube is going to know something like that.
