Hey guys,

I am new to the forums and the car. I've owned several bmws in the past, and this being my first merc. things are a little different. My problem or what i think is abnormal is that when i drive over a pothole the rear driver suspension makes a thump sound. Its a hollow sound, almost like the strut is in a fixed position and there is no give from the suspension when hitting a hole in the road. has anybody else encountered this? (instrument cluster shows no warnings of this).

There had been some issues with rear shocks, there was not a bulletin, but a technical note, I just can't recall if applied to 500's.

Do you have airmatic?

E500's in the US come standard with airmatic.

Have the exact same noice, the mechanic is searching for the fault and have ordered some new parts. But it takes time, hope he get the parts this week so we can see if he have found the problem.
