06 E55 Single CD Not Working
Hello all...All other functions on the COMAND work great(Nav,radio,6 disk changer)
...The single CD soft key is shaded out,I try to load a CD in there and it is not sucked in(even though it is almost completely in)..
So far I pulled the no.6 fuse out waited 10 minutes and put it back in,it did not help..
I have a repair manual in my possession and can take it apart if I have to..just checking with the techs out there if there is anything else I can do before taking it out..![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Thanks

Generally when the soft key is shaded out like that, there is a problem with that part or it thinks it's empty. I thought there was 2 different fuses to pull out to reset the Sound system and Command, but I'll have to check at work tomorrow to make sure. I have run across similar problems when people try to fit 2-6 CDs into this single slot thinking its a multi-disk unit. If the car is still under warranty you may want to just drop it off at a local dealer and have them work it out. If not, you may want to just pull the Command out along with the fuse in the back to try and reset it that way.

unfortunately I do not have any extended warranty on the car..I will pull out the COMAND unit and take a look.

Any solution regarding this condition?
(My 2005 E55 has the same situation with "CD" shaded out and the CD slot nonresponsive - although the little lights are lit on both sides of the CD slot. The COMAND manual says on page 46:
"The CD soft key is shaded out if no audio CD is loaded.")

I removed my COMAND unit. The CD-ROM drive is a separate component mounted above the radio/COMAND part and is empty (no disc). I've removed it, and the rest of the COMAND system still works fine. (The little lights are still lit on both sides of the CD slot.)
So I'm looking for just the CD-ROM drive. Mine is labeled:
CDM M6 4.5/5 on one sticker, or EC20 CDM-M6 4.5/5 on another sticker.
Anyone with a bad/broken COMAND that might have a working CD-ROM?
