I believe the battery in my 1996 S320 has developed a bad cell --- after sitting overnight the start needs a boost. If it starts without a boost, the start is dragging and the dashboard lights come on dimly and the red and green lights on the rear view mirror blink on and of for a few seconds. Please let me know if these symptoms indicate something other than a battery problem. If the battery should n=be replaced, as I have determined, please let me know what battery brand and specifications are best and how much I should expect topay. Thank you.

I'd buy the battery from your Mercedes dealer.

If you're stalled, they'll come install the new one for you for just the price of the part.
