2003 E500 HUGE PROBLEMS
I own a 2003 e500 with about 75k i love my car, but lately its been giving me problem..
First, driving home one night i threw a check engine light for: Mass Air Flow, and Air Intake Temp Sensor.
bought a new sensor and the car ran fine, about a week later while driving the car turned off while standing at a light so i turned it back on and started to drive thats when it went crazy started to jerk and go jerk and go so i pulled over turned it off n started the car the check engine turned on and no problems everything went away... i got it checked n the same code came up MAF and Air Intake temp sensor.. so my tech cleared the light n ran test on the maf everything was fine....
driving to work one day everything is fine no MIL nothing and then it goes down hill the jerking starts n now i cant apply the gas cuz "ESP malfunction" comes up so i pull over n turn the car off to call a friend start it back up n the MIL is on and the car is fine no problems...
Everytime i have this problem my MIL is not on once the MIL comes one the car is perfectly fine...
the codes i always get the same once
all the car has is K&N drop in filters, and stock plugs n wires...
i had the car check n nothing comes up to be wrong, voltage is right to the maf nothing comes up wit the mercedes benz system scan, EGR is fine...
Can it be the cats going bad or something any help is good help thank you

first of all, I think its a bad idea to post your phone number on a public forums, for the whole world to see. that being said, I agree with sosh, remove the KN filters and replace with OEM paper elements. also, clean the MAF sensor film with some CRC MAF cleaner aerosol. that should fix the problem. if you still want to use your KN filters, I would suggest you wash off all the oil, and reoil it LIGHTLY from the front(intake) side ONLY. I have used KN filters for over 10 years on many of my previous and current cars without a single MAF failure. but I always wash the filters and oil them in the fashion I mentioned earlier.
