Oil level
I changed my oil yesterday and filled it upto just below the top mark.
However I noticed today that when I check the oil strait after wiping the dip-stick the level is just below the red, as it was yesterday. But if I wipe the dip-stick, replace it and then wait a few seconds then check it, the level is over the mark (approx 2mm). Which leaves me wondering which is the correct level and if it is too high should I bother going to the trouble of draining the extra 2mm which is probably not even an eighth of a litre.

Dont worry. When you changed the oil and the filter, than you will notice that the oil level lowers after some driving since the oil filter refills. If you have not changed the filter, the oil level measurement with warm oil is little higher than with cold oil. But 2 mm over max wont hurt. But generally it shall not be overfilled too much since this may stress the gaskets and seals due to higher oil pressure. Depending on the age of the car the extra 2 mm will burn and get lost soon anyway.

Why is the oil pressure at idle dropping when you run at low oil level, if it's not increasing when you run at higher level than MAX.?
Anyway a good question, but this is what the DIY literature tell us.
