A Qustion For DIY's

To those that change their own oil. Do you have a special tool for removing the oil filter cap? I have a good strap type wrench, but am afraid that it might break the plastic (or whatever it is) cap. How much of a pain is it to remove the bottom shield to gain access to the drain plug?

Do yourself a favor and invest the $10 for the correct tool at your local dealer to remove the oil filter housing.

OK, thanks. But what about the shield under the engine? Is it obnoxious to remove? I would rather not use a dip stick suction device to remove the oil.
