1988 420sel mercedes benz
high idle

I have 1988 420sel with high idle.I cleaned the idle control valve looked good still high. I then replaced the idle control unit still high. NEED HELP THANKS

Have you checked the fuse on the overvoltage protection relay? It may be blown or the relay may be faulty, common cause of high idling/poor starting. check in the W126 forum for more info

1985 380SE
I had the same problem and replaced many parts before finding the cause. It was a box (1x1x4) near the firewall with multiple pin connectors that was easy to take out and replace by simply plugging in the new part. I can not recall what the mechanic called it but it helps to define idle and fuel distribution.
