i will see if i could try this out on a glk and give you instructions on how to do it. If you have your owners manual you may be able to do it by holding the tailgate button down at the level you want it to open to.

thank you very much. sometimes it will stop and stay when you hold it, sometimes it sounds like you are making it grind something inside. i am not always at the back when it gets opened so it has hit the ceiling a few times ):

I checked and you should be able to open it to where you would like it to open. Then you hit the close tailgate button and hold it until an audible noise is heard.Close it and then it should open back up to that position you set it too.
