W209 instrument panel
I am one of those who absolutely hates the design of the instrument layout of the W203. The tachometer is way too small and is stuck to the far left, supposedly to make room for the big speedometer in the middle. However, the speedometer on the C32 goes up in 30 kmph increment instead of the 20 kmph increment for the rest of the C-Class, which makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to check the speed with just a quick glance (look at the attached picture and you will understand). I know I can look at the digital speedometer (which is what I am doing now) but then what’s the point of that big speedometer in the middle.
Anyway back to my question. I have seen the instruments of the new CLK55. Although I am not a big fan of it, at least the tachometer is of normal, useful size and the speedometer goes up in 20 kmph (for those of us in the metric countries). I know that the W209 and W203 share many parts. I am just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to swap the W209 instrument cluster into my C32 and how difficult it would be.
Thanks.
