7G transmission downshift problem
Hello,
Newbie here. I have an '06 E280 CDI with the 7G with 80k miles. A sporadic problem has developed. For no apparent reason the transmission will suddenly not downshift when I press on the accelerator to accelerate. Slowing down naturally, the car will downshift at the appropriate speed thresholds, but it won't respond to me attempting to cause it to downshift by stepping on the gas, so I can hardly accelerate at all. Turning the car off and then on again ("rebooting the car", I joke) solves it for the moment.
Car will still respond normally to the tiptronic "manual" shifting.
Car has been serviced normally according to service schedule.
Any thoughts welcome.
Kind regards.

It turns out it was a faulty turbocharger, causing the car to occasionally go into "limp home" mode. Replaced the turbo and the problem is fixed. Was a little disappointed to have to do that at only 84k miles, however!
