conductive grease as a rust preventer
It makes sense to me that a conductive grease, such as the commonly found GB Ox-Guard, would be excellent for preventing corrosion from starting on small areas, such as fasteners. Not only would it seal out oxygen, but it has a lot of sacrificial metal--zinc, i believe. however, i can find no reference for using it as such.
There is a product called no-ox-id, that is less easy to obtain, that makes these claims, but it is harder to find.
Any engineers or chemists out there who would be willing to explain why this would or would not work> I'm doing some rust-proofing this weekend ns was thinking of putting it on fasteners which are not galvanized--a plance rust is known to start. thanks.
