2004 CLK phone woes. Can anyone help, please?
I'm new here, so please be gentle!
I have a 2004 CLK500 (UK car), which was pre-wired for phone (it had the little connector in the top of the armrest). I installed the puck (HFP?) cradle and have absolutely no problems hooking up with Bluetooth, downloading contacts etc.
The problem starts when I am on a call. The in car clarity is excellent (as in I can hear the person on the other end clear as a bell), but the person on the other end of the line has the devil's own job hearing me due to background noise. When I mute the call at my end, the background noise disappears, which leads me to believe that it is an in car microphone sensitivity issue.
I've tried adjusting microphone sensitivity by entering 0000#1* many times, but this seems to make no difference to the far end call quality.
My normal phone is a SE Xperia Pro, but I have the same far end background noise, when paired to Blackberry, iPhone and an old SE that I think Noah used whilst on the ark!
Has anyone come across this before and if so, how did you cure it?
Aside from this, I absolutely love the car & have covered over 50 k miles in the last 18 months in it with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Although, having taken the rear cats out earlier this year, I could now use a little more power
