Is camshaft problem common to 126 cars?

I have an '82 380SEC. I had a bad passenger side cam some years back, which I swapped for a good used cam and new rockers. That cam is now in bad shape in probably less than 15,000 miles - badly scored and worn lobes (driver's side cam looks beautiful). I just read something in a Haynes manual that says that the passenger side cams are prone to problems, but it did not mention what the cause is. I have seen 200k + mile engines with cams that look virtually new, so it certainly isn't inevitable...

Is the cause of the problem known?

Thx
Scott Kelley

Wow, that sounds strange. I would wonder about that side getting proper lubrication. have you looked at the oil passages?

Nothing is plugged. Anyone know what the problem is that Hayes would say that it is common?
