So many 722.6## transmissions to pick from

I'm looking for the newest factory transmission that will be a direct fit in a 1999 SL500. Its not very easy finding interchange information, all I have came up with is I can install up to a 2002 SL500 722.624 trans in my 1999.
Does any one have experience in this area? I noticed that the 722.6 comes in many different vehicles.

I found this as a part number for my 722.624 trans 1402709600
So far the newest trans I can find that will work is out of the 2002 SL500 or the 2002 E55.

It would be nice to know the difference between this trans and the next version, one difference that comes to mind on cars a few years newer comes with a shifter that has left and right tilt for manuel shift and I think the electrical plug moves to the rear of the trans.

Oh BTW for any one else in my situation should know that alldatadiy.com gives incorrect information in regards to the trans ID info, they are telling me it is a 722.620 and giving me R&I info for a 722.9
