2003 Clk 500 A/c

Have a brand new 2003 CLK 500, I run the fan only before shutting down after using the A/C to help dry up moisture & prevent mold. Today I pushed the A/C off button & the light came on the button but cold air continued to come out the vents, I shut the fan & then turned on the fan & the cold air stopped. Seems like the controls or computer controlling it got confused. Any ideas if that is it or do I might have a problem with it.

If you have the update for the evaporator pan along with the filter update you won't need to turn the compressor off and run the fan to prevent mold etc. The current pan is not angled properly and is not allowing for condensation to drain properly.

How can I tell if mine has the update evaporator pan & filter. Was this a running change or only if there is a problem. My car was manufactured 3/03 so if it was a running change maybe it has it. Also just curious why the compressor no longer shuts off when the A/C off button is pressed. Seems maybe the microprocessor is acting up.

2 ways If your ac has a musty odor when first turned on (without you doing the comp off fan on stuff) then you need the update. Or your dealer can tell but the first test is best.

Just found out that supposedly when you push the A/C off button it goes into a sort of economy mode & takes about 7 minutes to completley shut the compressor to prevent fogging. Have not tried it yet to see. Anybody else could you try it after running the A/C press the A/C off button to see what happens. Will try to wait out the 7 minutes to see if they are right.
