w202 Tranny problems
my w202 c280 currently has about 49,xxx miles on it and I've noticed a change in transmission performance. Whenever I floor it, I would hear the engine SCREAMING but I wouldn't feel the gears "catch" until 5k rpm. It'll take about 2 seconds for the gears to catch from the initial "flooring". Also when the car downshifts from 2nd to 1st I could feel a slight jolt and this problem is becoming really annoying. I've heard that these are the early signs of the tranny dying but my dealership disagrees. Does anyone have any input to share or advice on what I should do?

Same problem and dealership says nothing is wrong. Don't have the high reving problem just the shifting problem. My moms 1991 190E has always had hard shifts and she has had no other problems and she's got close to 200,000km so like 120000miles.

What year is it? If it's a 1998 or later car, then you have the 722.6 tranny. SPecifically, if your car is a 97-99, you may require an ETC update. Are you sure that the 2-1 downshift is rough? It might be the 3-2 as the car does not usually shift into first unless you're pretty well stopped.

Of course, if your car is a 94-96,then that's a different story...

I have a 1998 c230...with 66k and was looking to change the transmission oil. So when i go to mercedes to get it changed...what do i tell them to do exactly. I've posted this a while back and was told about TSB's and ETCs and magnet in the pan etc etc. Say if i had a list of what to do to the tranny what would be on it. Also how much am i looking to pay for all of this.
