722.6 Conductor Plate Oops

So I replaced the plug/bushing to the conductor plate due to the infamous leak and I sheared the screw holding it in place. It broke off flush. I tried using a pencil eraser, magnet etc. with no luck due to the awkward location. The conductor plate was replaced less than a year ago due to another issue. I am very confident that I can get the screw out if I had the conductor plate on a bench. My question is, do I try this or purchase another conductor plate ($200.00)? I will only be drilling about an eighth of an inch to extract it. Thanks!

you're gonna have to drop the valvebody and remove the conductor plate. Worth a try.

Thanks. Had to drop the valve body but got the remains of the screw out without messing up the conductor plate.

I dropped the valve body, wrapped it in plastic to keep the shavings out, drilled a little and used an easy-out. Not easy but I salvaged the plate. Fortunately in my previous life I was an aircraft mechanic and he lots of practice removing broken screws this way. Good luck! If you don't mind the car being out of service, you can ship the plate to me and I'll do it.
