Center air vent removal - CLS 55
Hi,
I have 2006 CLS 55 AMG and my front center air vents broke. One of them flips up every single time I try to direct air down and another one has broken or derailed blades that direct air side to side. I want to take those vents out and try to repair it myself before going to the dealer. It seems like there are screws inside the events. One screw is on the right and another one is on the left. It looks like vents come out as one unit. Does anyone know how to take them out? Are there any clips that I should undo first and what screws are those?
Thanks!

I managed to get center air vents out. They come out as one unit. I could not find a way to take that unit apart without breaking clips that hold the unit together. There might be a way though. It seems like center air vents are installed as a sealed unit. The unit costs around $300 CAD (if you buy it directly from the dealership).
If you wanna take a look at it...you will need to pull the vents out with two hooks. There are hooks that you can purchase from MB but you can also make your own from the dry cleaner's coat hanger or thick wire. There is a hole inside each vent. One on the right side and another one on the left side. You need to hook onto those holes and pull. It takes a bit of force to pull the vents out too. It would be awesome to know if you can take the vents apart.

We're you ever able to get this fixed? I have a similar problem- I can't control the left/right adjustments since the vertical fins are broken. It looks like the actual fins are fine, but they aren't connected. Any assistance on this?

I have the same car with the left side vent needing to be removed. have you done this ? it looks like it would just pull out as a complete unit. ..
the centre vent is also with the fins not connected to the slide control..
