1994 Mercedes Benz S 500

check engine light

I have a M-B S500 1994, the engine check light has come on and I am not sure what to do. I just recently bought the car. Thanks.

1994 S320

I have the exact same problem with an 1994 S320, that I recently got. I took it to the dealer and according to them is the E.G.R. valve. For some reason the light recently went off or the bulb got burned. It does not not seem to affect the permance of the carbut I am going to change. Perhaps you should check this valve.

1994 S320

At the dealer is $ 275.00 approximately but I found it at a place in Miami called the "Finish Line" their phone number is (305) 266-9687 for about $ 150.00, probably aftermarket. Before replacing the EGR valve, I just read in this website something about the vacum hoses and he had the same problem with an S500-1996 and he solved it by changing this hoses in the EGR valve. It has vacum hose warning or caution title. Check it out this may be the problem.
