you should probably try to identify the cause/source of the AC problem first.
but if, as you say, it is a 'complete' overhaul, it's going to be a couple thousand
US dollars easy. you may even have on-board diagnostic for your HVAC
system so at least take a look to see if you can get a preliminary readout of
its health to see what specifically is non/working before you inadvertently throw
money into something not needed

Across North America most generic shops $2,500.00 - $9,000.00.
Mercedes Benz-Classic center $18,000.00 if they will work on a 2002 model?
