I have a 2006 R350. Dealer "fixed" the climate control with a programming update. It worked for a summer. The next summer it started going out, working intermittentely. Took it back and the dealer wants >$1,300 to replace. If I buy a used one is there any programming that has to be done?

Thanks for the info. With either the original or the replacement part I get a B1006 (9006) error code. Says the compressor has a short. But what is odd is that the compressor still works. i.e. - I get cold air sometimes. Any ideas?

I have a 2006 R350 where the A/C works intermittently. One minute, she blows ice cold air and the next it's as if the compressor has just died or the car thinks the air in the cabin is actually too cold and she blows luke warm air, when in fact it's boiling in the car.
My temperature adjustment knob for the front sometimes won't go up at all. As I rotate the knob, it clicks, but the red light just clicks back to the coldest setting no matter how many times I rotate the knob to a higher temperature. I've found if I squeeze the knob as I turn it, I can get it to go and stay at a higher temperature. Weird.
I don't have a Star reader, just a generic Craftsman OBD II code reader, that shows me quite a bit of info, but no error codes. I suspect the climate control unit itself, or possibly a sensor in the cabin that tells it what temperature to adjust to, or something else. Does anyone have an established troubleshooting procedure for this issue?
