2008 Mercedes C300 4matic whining/whistling noise coming from drivetrain
I just noticed today with the radio off the car from 30- MPH is making a whining /whirring noise coming from the drivetrain. you can really hear it from 40-50 and up. Now, it is not really loud, more of faint noise. It is defiantly coming from the drivetrain as I has someone else drive and put my head next to the shifter, and there was the noise. As soon as I put it in N it goes away. It is also quieter in manual mode, in a higher gear. I don't know what this could be and would like to know ASAP! One other thing is that when coming to a stop, at about 15mph, the car gives me a harsh shift, if I brake fast. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas!
Thanks
Thanks

have you changed your tranny fluid and filter. should be done about 40,000 miles. burnt fluid might cause this.

a harsh downshift would probably require an me and etc flash and you may need the transmission adaptations to be performed. also recommend fluid and filter it is recommended at 39k

Sorry for the late response. I did a fluid change at 40k and filter change. I took it to the dealer which my friend works at. Told me very quickly, "get rid of it" He said it needed 10,000 tranny and driveshaft. Needless to say I sold it at auction and the buyer had a transmission to put in it. I am still upset that this car had such a major problem at low miles.
