Can anyone tell me how I can test the oil level sensor to make sure it is operating correctly. All it says is reduce oil level.

If it is not the newest level, you are wasting your time.
This unit has been superseded several times, with a note: THE OLD PART MUST NO LONGER BE INSTALLED IN THIS PLACE.
