CLK 320 Makes Chirping/Ticking Sound Upon Locking
I am having a bit of an issue with my CLK 320 which I was wondering if anyone could help me with.
For the last week or so the car has been making a chirping/ticking sound upon being locked which goes on for a while before it will stop on its own.
I took the car to my mechanic - not a dealership - who has been working on my Mercedes for a while now and who has his own Mercedes and who I trust and believe is knowledgable ... he did not know what it was.
From what I understand, he disconnected and reconnected some fuses related to the Alarm system, which fixed the problem for a few days but just tonight when the car was locked it began its chirping sound again.
He told me that if the car started up again I would have to take it to a dealership - so my question is two fold -- does anyone know what this is?
I have read all the threads I can find related to this problem and nobody can seem to say what it is exactly - something with the alarm or a reserve battery? Also, I have a feeling that I am going to have to take the car to the dealership - does anyone know of a reputable dealership in Texas near Houston or Austin? Or even in Louisiana?
Thank you so much for all of your help and info!
the car locks and chirps for 1 min solid.
i removed fuse 8 in the rear trunk are and no luck.
if you keep the door open and press the lock button and then close the door it does not do it but this is only masking the problem. this started out of no where. The only other think i did we factory re set the radio functions through the nav screen.
What did you change to make yours happen ?

& for anyone else who might have this problem, I thought I would update.
What ended up being the issue was the car horn ... there is actually another thread I eventually found that discusses this, but I didn't find it until the car was basically in the shop. Supposedly, MB made these car horns with a battery inside them - a safety feature of last resort in case the other alarm wires are cut I believe, which over time begins to corrode, and to my understanding eventually leaks some sort battery acid out into the horn, screwing up the wiring. The alarm system gets confused due to the corrosion and thinks something is wrong, and so chirps and/or the alarm will go off for no reason. The whole horn component has to be replaced, which cost me about $600, although luckily extended warranty covered a good percentage of that.
The new horn I had installed is in my opinion much nicer than the previous one, as it beeps understatedly three times to alert me that the car is properly locked, which the old one didn't do - it was just silent. I always felt uneasy about it before, as I like to have that aural confirmation of it actually locking. As for changes, I'm not sure that I changed anything to have it happen - it think it was just general wear on this older badly designed horn model, but I may have hastened its breaking down - since it never made noise before when it locked I had the compulsive habit of clicking the lock button several times to feel satisfied it was actually locked. Silly I know but it was what it was, and now with the new horn it beeps so all around I'm happier - no more obsessive locking and the chirping has been fixed.
