2012 GL 450 Rear Main Seal leak
Just purchased a 2012 GL 450 (New). At 1000 miles it has developed a rear main seal leak. It is covered under warranty, but I am concerned about having potentially expensive future problems since this seems like a fairly significant problem on a new vehicle. It unfortunately existed before I bought the car. Any recommendations on what to do? If the dealer had discovered the problem before selling it to me would they have returned it to MB or fixed it and sold it for less?

they would have fixed it and sold it for exactly the same price, i recently had a glk that came in leaking oil 2012 with 2500 miles on it. when i pulled the tranny low and behold rear main leaking. when i received a new seal to put on, it appears that maybe the material was different or something, the original rear main was orange the new one was black and had a slightly different feel. not sure im just the technician not the engineer but i wouldnt sweat the issue as long as the covered it and gave you a couple of other freebees. LoL
