Engine light on

I have a 06 c230 the check engine light is on i take to diferent mecanic but the problem is they try to conect the code scaners but i won turn on the scaner is posible the plug is not working n how i can fix it thanks

If its an older OBDii scanner its possible the pins on their plug don't match the pins of your cars port.

I take the car to auto zone n advance auto n private shop they OBD look pretty new one of then tell me the plug not working

My older scanner plug (circa 2003) had 6 or 8 active pin slots. Worked fine for the 99. It wouldn't communicate with my 09 as the pins wern't in the correct positions. The newer scanners have plugs where all 16 pins are present and active.

Just had my 04 E55 AMG scanned at autozone and the scanner worked on my car just fine

more info: was an EVAP code, erased and it never came back on. I think my gas cap was loose maybe

the diagnostic port has a fuse associated with it, you may want to check the fuse.
