2 months ago, I had my 80k service done to my 02 c320 and had a sensor replaced that effects engine performance. Ran great afterwards.
Last month, my SRS light came on and did not go off. then my battery went dead. I replaced it. it went dead again. So i have a power drain problem. I had one 2 years ago that went away when I replaced the driver side set control module. so...
Situation: Per mechanic, the SRS is trying to tell SOS there is a problem when there has been no incident. This continued attempted communication is causing a 90mamp drain. Furthermore, the passenger seat power module is pulling 40mamps for some unknown reason (note old problem with driver side). Reportedly, the car is designed to withstand a natural at ease pull of 40 to 70mamps.
To replace the SRS Control Module (part 2038206485), it will cost $1309 mat/ $237 labor.
Nothing happened to cause the SRS light to come on. It just did and it rendered the car unusable.
I continue to read up on this on MB forum sites... it seems to be a recurring problem and that the stem of the problem is that some occurrence made the SRS module start giving false positives (of a problem)... and that a simple reset is all that is needed. I really want to know if that is the case before I spend, or don't spend $1700.
Any help?

These modules are a continuing issue, they where superseded 12 times.
Unfortunately I have never found any answer, short of replacing the module.
